Oscar has a gift for sensing when one of the nursing home patients are reaching their final hours and curls up next to them before they die. So far has been right about he last 25 people who have passed, and nurses have decided to call family members when the Oscar has laid next to someone so family can come say goodbye to their loved one. When Oscar has chosen someone, it usually means that they have about four hours to live.
There have been many cases indicating how good this cat is at predicting when someone is going to die, sometimes even better then the staff working at this nursing home. A doctor noticed that a woman wasn't eating, was breathing with difficulty and that her legs had a bluish tinge, signs that often mean death is near, but Oscar was not going into the room. The doctor thought that Oscars streak might have been broken, however it was just 10 hours too early. Oscar climbed into bed with the woman two hours before she died.
“Nursing home staffers aren't concerned with explaining Oscar, so long as he gives families a better chance at saying goodbye to the dying.”
