School can be a stressful time period for any student, especially younger children. A local Worthington Ohio school,Slate Hill Elementary, has found just the solution. His name is Boomer, a 14 month old Golden Retriever. Boomer was originally trained as a therapeutic dog for the blind; however a bad hip prevents him from that career.
The organization donated him to the local elementary school, where principal Dan Girard is his full time caregiver on nights and weekends. During the day Boomer spends his time helping to soothe the many emotions of children in the classrooms."Sometimes I get really bad days and I feel like I'm going to blow up," said fourth-grader Joey Goldblum, 10. "Boomer calmed me down. He's so cheerful. He lets you pet him no matter what."
The school is taking a new approach to tackling the emotions of the students, therapy dogs!! If they love Boomer as much as we do, he is one lucky dog!!
