We love having dogs in our stores! Yet we know that not everyone who shops at malls expects to see dogs there and we try to be respectful of that. At the same time, we know that people who shop at Moochie & Co. are dog lovers like us who like to have dogs around. There have been some questions recently about the dogs in our stores, so we want to address them here:
Does Moochie & Co. have an issue with pit bulls or other dog breeds?
No-in fact, the owners, managers, and associates of Moochie & Co. love all dogs and pets. All well-behaved dogs, regardless of breed, are welcome to visit our stores.
Are pit bulls and other dog breeds banned from visiting Moochie & Co. stores?
Absolutely not. However, the laws of the states of Ohio and Michigan where we operate our stores give local governments the right to prohibit some or all dogs from being in certain places. We trust that responsible pet parents will heed these laws and also be respectful of people who may fear or mistrust certain breeds or larger dogs or dogs in general.
Why are some pit bull owners upset with Moochie & Co.?
Recently, Moochie & Co. had some customer complaints about associates' pit bulls being at stores while the associates worked their shifts. After reviewing mall, city and county regulations, we decided that our stores "welcome" dogs should probably be a more generally accepted breed or size. We have since changed our associate dog policy to reflect that. Now, Moochie & Co. visitors will be greeted only by well-behaved dogs who are 25 lbs or under. Pit bulls and well-behaved dogs of any breed are absolutely still welcome to visit our stores.
This is a customer care issue and is not, nor has it ever been, a breed discrimination issue. We simply want all customers to feel safe and comfortable in our stores.
What is Moochie & Co.'s stance on dog breed bans and other dog discrimination issues?
We love all dogs and pets regardless of size or breed. In fact, Moochie & Co. is a proud supporter or numerous dog and cat related charities. We donate a portion of the proceeds of every bag of Moochie Treats to local pet charities. In addition, we regularly host rescue events in our stores where we have been very successful in placing numberous abandoned animals in loving homes. Simply put, we are very fond of our four-legged friends and we are proud of our charitable work for their benefit.
